I have a cheap regular cell phone that pretty much just works as a mobile phone. Is it worth the extra up-front and monthly cost to have a multi-functional smart phone like an i-phone?

The iPhone is a nice device, if you don’t mind getting locked into Apple’s hardware, software, use restrictions, etc.

Consider a phone that uses the Android mobile system. Lots of phones out there use it now.
