Why would any cell phone company be this difficult? Wireless company rep preferred.?

Question by : Why would any cell phone company be this difficult? Wireless company rep preferred.?
Alright so I go to multiple websites including At&t, T-mobile and Alltel. At&t requires you to have an account to do anything. How am I supposed to do anything if I am just wanting to find rate plans and possibly sign up? I click anything and it pops up “Sign in with your current plan ” T-mobile has online help, I just wanted some basic service info. It has an option you can click to say you are not a current T-mobile customer. Then up comes a box that asks you for your T-mobile number, and last four of your ssn. Alltel is a little more explore-able than the others but they are going out of service quite soon. What makes wireless companies so incompetent? Am I going to a wrong to old websites or member only sites?

WEBSITE IS COMING SOON! But please view this video in the mean time that shows you that it IS possible to get 100% FREE T-Mobile internet on an iPhone. This iPhone is currently using a PREPAID T-Mobile sim card with less than left and on the absolute most basic prepaid calling plan that’s available on T-Mobile. Save every month and 0 total every year! This is not mean for ANYONE who needs to login into sites all the time. It’s meant for people who would like to browse the internet and view almost every website out there without paying a dime every single month. We have had customers on this for months now still going strong! Great for people who need to save money and don’t have internet already and/or for kids! Q. Is this truly FREE? A. Yes it is, 100% free! Watch the video, it shows proof. =) Q. Does this work only on specific T-Mobile plans? A. NO! It works on ANY T-Mobile plan, postpaid or prepaid. Q. Does this work only on the iPhone 4? A. No, it works on ALL the iPhones including the original iPhone, 3G, & 3GS Q. Does this work for the iPad or iTouch A. No most likely not because the device needs to have a regular phone service attached. Even with a 3G AT&T iPad, this most likely won’t work as the hardware is not the same as the iPhone so usually not everything is compatible. Q. What’s required to do this on the iPhone? A. Any AT&T iPhone that can be unlocked and Jailbroken which needs both of these done in order for this to work. Q. Does this work with

AT&T + T-Mobile = competitive market?

Article by Kyle Trueba

It actually equals about 130 million subscribers on one (or maybe 1.5) GSM network. AT&T is claiming that the transition will be a smooth and painless one for T-Mobile customers, but those of us who witnessed the Verizon/Altell merger know better… Essentially, many Altell customers were bullied into buying all new handsets and losing their Altell loyalty plans within the first year of the merger. I know this to be true as we were instructed to do this at the sales level.

I’m no stranger to marketing gimmicks, but if and when this whole merger goes through, it’s estimated that Verizon Wireless and AT&T — the nations two largest carriers — will control around 70-80% of the cell phone market in the U.S. Coincidentally, these are also the only two carriers offering the iPhone… something that regional carriers are just going to have to continue to deal with. Also, keep in mind that Verizon and AT&T are the most expensive options for wireless service and have nearly identical price plan options.

In all my years in the wireless industry, I’ve failed to sway the opinions of thousands of loyal, T-Mobile customers. Many of these customers choose T-Mobile over other carriers as the price plans have always been significantly cheaper, they have a great catalog of handsets to choose from, and the customer service team takes care of them. Competitive T-Mobile plans save their customers a lot of money annually, and they are also one of the only carriers that will offer promotional pricing and bonus minutes. For example: right now you can get unlimited text and 4G internet with 1500 minutes for .99 per month. This is about cheaper than the nearest Verizon and AT&T plan that offers similar features.

T-Mobile customers losing their plans is still speculation, but once AT&T has their talons into the 40 million people who have already chosen not to buy their service, what is to stop them from pulling the switch? While I love Verizon’s coverage and caught the smart phone bug early on, I’ve personally witnessed them make a lot of terrible choices regarding pricing that generated substantial revenue for them while offering their customers few benefits. Do you remember 3G multimedia phones, and that useless 25mb plan that they required? A lot of people equated this to stealing every month, and sure enough, this practice ended after about a year of constant customer complaints. AT&T has already pulled the plug on unlimited data plans for their own customers, and made a few questionable moves similar to the one I just mentioned, is this the door being opened up to T-Mobile customers?

Even if you think this merger is a great idea, think about the economic effects of this merger. When Verizon Wireless took over Altell, most of the Altell stores were closed, and many of the Altell employees were folded into to Verizon, resulting in a pretty substantial hiring freeze. Simply put, merging two companies eliminates jobs and it it eliminates stores. Is that the best option right now? Maybe AT&T can manage 130 million customers more efficiently than the two providers could separately, but I doubt anybody will see the benefits of this who doesn’t work in upper management at AT&T. Furthermore, selling phones and plans to 40 million customers who are already paying somebody else isn’t economic growth at all, no matter which way you look at it.

If I need to come right out and say it, I will. Eliminating another nationwide carrier is a terrible idea. Just because Verizon and AT&T are in fierce competition doesn’t mean the market is competitive. If this goes through, we are basically being forced into an oligopoly that already seems guilty of collusion. And if you think this opens the door for a new carrier to emerge, just remember what happened to poor, little Helio.

T-Mobile launches VoIP services for iPhone

Article by Erum

“An updated Bobsled VoIP app can be used by android, iPhone and iPad users for free phone calling” “T-Mobile is offering a calling service for iPhone and iPad users, even though it doesn’t sell those devices”

“The operator is expanding its free voice-over-IP service, called Bobsled, to iPhones, iPads and Android phones. Users with the app can make calls to mobile or landline phones in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico without incurring charges. Users can make the calls over cellular data networks, which typically charge for the data usage, or over Wi-Fi, which could be free”

“The new services are an expansion of the Bobsled service that T-Mobile first launched early last year. Initially, it let people make calls only to Facebook friends from PCs. In October, it began letting people make calls from Facebook to mobile devices and make calls from PCs to U.S. mobile and landline phones”

“T-Mobile is also separately launching a Bobsled Messaging app on Tuesday for Android phones, with plans to also offer it for iPhones and iPads later this year. That app lets users send group text and multimedia messages” “Key to both apps is that they are tied to a user’s mobile phone number. That means a user can download Bobsled Messaging on their Android tablet and tie the app to their mobile phone number, so that when they send a message, the recipient will see that the message is coming from the sender’s regular phone number” “Users will find some benefits to downloading the app on multiple devices. For example, a user can read conversations on their tablet that were started on the phone. They’ll also be able to access their contacts list from the app on both devices”

“In the future, T-Mobile plans to start issuing phone numbers along with Bobsled. That means someone with a Wi-Fi-only iPad, for example, could attach a phone number to the tablet that friends would recognize when the user made calls and sent messages from Bobsled”

“T-Mobile has a number of reasons for wanting to get into the VoIP business, said Brad Duea, senior vice president of marketing for T-Mobile. VoIP traffic is only expected to grow, he said. “It might cannibalize some revenue, but we think it’s a much greater opportunity. We don’t have a fixed-line business to protect. So we’re saying, ‘cut the cord, here how we can empower you”

“Some other mobile service providers that have landline businesses are often less keen to promote VoIP because it competes with traditional landline phone service”

“For now, T-Mobile isn’t saying much about how it will make money from the service. It plans to bring some new business models to the market, including ad-supported services and contextual advertising, he said. The company will talk more about that in a couple of months”
