Getting frustrated trying to find a good pre-paid phone/service?
Question by Seeker2008: Getting frustrated trying to find a good pre-paid phone/service?
Okay, I’ve been researching various pre-paid plans for quite some time now. It’s frustrating. Every single company has something “bad” that this and that person doesn’t like about it. That makes it awful for trying to find a decent service. The problems one person has with a company, another may never have, so that seems really hard to decide just by “comments/opinions” of “what is the best service”. Everyone has their own unique needs which gives a bad impression if what they desire isn’t found. But it’s impossible to know if I don’t check around on here, with people who have had companies I’m considering. I’m a Virgin Mobile customer. My month ends Wednesday 4/25 and I want to get a phone that doesn’t look like a kids ‘toy’. VM doesn’t have any of those ‘real’ phones. I don’t need internet/web browsing, music or video on my phone, etc. Just a basic service (pre-paid monthly plan). I have the $ 34.99 talk plan from VM and usually don’t max it out most months.
I’ve looked a TMobile, Verizon, Cingular GoPhone, etc. $ 50 a month is an outrageous amount to pay for a pre-pay plan (I think TMobile wants that). I’m not a “10 cents a minute as you use it” kind of person. I like a set amount that gets used up, and then it’s gone. I can add money to it for more minutes, or not add to it. I’ve found the closest match to be “Cingular GoPhone”. I’ve looked at Sony Ericsson Z300a model (blue)…and the Motorola V173 I think it is. I need a decent phone that will last and not break a month down the road. Something with a few features, good backlighting on screen/buttons is a *must* have, and it doesn’t necessarily have to have a camera. 50% of people slam Cingular for this and that. 50% don’t. What’s up with that? They write in other people’s questions, “Don’t go with them”…but don’t say *why*. And they assume their situation and needs is exactly like everyone else’s…and this is frustrating to me.
I rarely travel to other locations apart from nearby cities. I also don’t call long-distance at all, most of the time. I don’t travel or call other places around the world.
Usage would be in Central/North Georgia in the U.S. Not too far from the city of Atlanta…so ‘coverage’ with just about any company, I would think would be good.

if you are travelin much here is a thought, alltel and verizon are the only true nation wide carriers, sprint ,t-mobile,cingular and so on are all city based carriers, yes they claim to be the largest and they probaly do have the most customers,(bein city based and all) so pick your carrier wisely cause it is a contract
